Kii Peaberry
Couldn't load pickup availability
A washed Kenyan peaberry that tastes like black currant, toffee and vanilla. Grown in Kirinyaga County, on the southern slopes of Mount Kenya.
Kii is a factory, the Kenyan name for a washing station, run by the Rung'eto Farmers Cooperative Society. Member farmers bring their cherry there to be pulped, fermented and washed before it dries.
A peaberry is a single round bean that grows when only one seed forms in the cherry instead of the usual two. Peaberries are sorted out at the mill and sold as their own grade.
The farms sit at 1,700 metres and up, and grow four Kenyan varieties: SL28, SL34, Batian, and Ruiru 11.
Roasted medium, in small batches in Calgary. Sold as whole beans. Imported by EA Bean Co.
Tastes like black currant, toffee and vanilla.
